At $299 the Geekfly GF3 sits amongst many highly qualified tws sets. I hope to try to figure out if the GF3 can hang with those other sets. Granted, I think I already know the answer to that. However, I also want to know who the GF3 is for, and I am happy to report my thoughts. With that, I’m ready to get this one going. So, without further ado… the Geekfly GF3 everyone…

Today we are introducing the Geekfly TWS GF3 which at $299 USD is competing with the Apple and Sennheiser models but with a difference. The GF3 has a single dynamic driver and two PZT drivers and is designed with audiophile performance in mind. The Geekfly has been sent by [Sie Lum] to Audio Reviews Downunder for our assessment and review.
As you can see from the photos the GF3 is supplied in a tiny little metal charging case which feels substantial and high quality. Its very unlikely to break. The ear pieces are very IEM like in shape and construction with an attractive face plate. They pair quickly and easily with all my equipment. I can walk from room to room without losing connection to my laptop.
I have reasonably large ear holes and I did have to experiment with ear tips to get a secure fit. The bulge at the base of the nozzle is the section that impacts the ear and the nozzle is fairly short. I found Moondrop springtips worked best for me. I can shake my head and they sit securely.
I usually use bluetooth for movie and web browsing but this set had me enjoying my music library. The sound approaches IEM quality with excellent clear vocals and a surprising bass that dips deep and has a punchy solidity. The PZT drivers give a good clear treble that never gets harsh or overbearing. The balance is pretty good. I’d say you’d need to enjoy a good serve of bass in your ear phones but rest assured there is plenty of air and clarity in this set. The soundstage is adequate and the sound is clear and detailed.
The balance and musical fidelity of this set makes listening to my library an enjoyable experience. The Geekfly GF3 is a step up from budget sets in build and also sound. An easy recommendation
Ja
Thanks to Sie Lum and Geekfly who were kind enough to send them out to me for my honest review.
This is one of Geekfly’s latest flagship wireless in ear monitors and it is a hybrid design, with 2 PZT + 1 DD configuration.
Bluetooth 5.4, and has a full resin shell, and retains for $299 USD.
These aren’t your average tws ear buds, these really do reflect an in ear monitor like sound.
And a hybrid configuration, which gives the GF3 a unique sound characteristic for a wireless in ear.
So how do they sound you say!? Well they do sound just like an in ear monitor, clear and detailed sound, with good resolution and good separation of the sound.
In terms of bass, the bass is deep and punches quite hard, and has some good control, but it can feel just slightly elevated in some tracks, but it does add warmth and note weigh to instruments and base guitars.
Kick drums have good speed and impact, good separation.
The bass quality is good, but the quantity could be slightly more balanced with the mids and treble.
Although it could appeal to those who like a little extra bass and note weight.
It does on some tracks come off sounding slightly too elevated above where it would present in a more natural way, but only by maybe 1 to 1.5db, but I’m really just nit picking a little bit.
The mids are clean, detailed and natural, vocals and instruments are presented very well, they feel natural and there is good clarity in the details, and the mids aren’t too forward, which can make some sets shouty, but the GF3 keeps the mids pretty natural, but clear.
The treble too, is pretty well balanced with the mids, and with the two PZT drivers, has just a little sparkle and good detail, without any harshness or sibilance.
The mids and treble work well together, to give vocals and instruments a clear and detailed presentation, and a good sound stage.
The imaging is good for a wireless in ear as well.
Maybe not as pin point accurate as some wired IEM’s in the price range, but for a wireless in ear monitor, the imaging is pretty good and the GF3 has good separation and a good sound stage, with a good depth, with that weighty bass there to add some good depth.
They are quite a versatile set, the GF3 didn’t have any issues playing my library, which has everything from, K-pop, to jazz, metal, Dubstep and Drum & Bass, to Hip Hop and Drill, EDM, Trance and Regressive House.
The GF3 handled it all pretty well, with only some occasions where the bass felt just a little too elevated, but other times felt amazing and added some good depth and layering.
One other small nitpick I would add, for me, I felt like the nozzle length could have been just slightly longer, as I had to choose my tips more carefully, and they at times didn’t feel the most secure in my ear, but once I found a tip that fit well and gave me a more secure fit, I had no issues with fit stability or isolation.
So if you want a really high quality in ear wireless device, that sounds like a true in ear monitor, that also fits like your favourite IEM’s, then maybe the GF3 is worth a thought.
Thank you again to Geekfly for sending out the GF3 for review, I’ve been quite impressed with the quality of the build and the sound these wireless IEM’s offer
